Wow, at that CNBC reporter.
“There’s not alot of alternatives besides US assets.”
Non-US and especially emerging market equities and bonds have been smoking hot this year. There are also plenty of strong currencies available besides the dollar. The dollar is not some currency of last resort that everyone has to use “just because” it’s the reserve currency. The reporter seems to be behind the times by about 10 years, thinking that everyone will use American currency simply because of it’s well…American.
I am also assuming you two were arguing over the dollar carry trade at the end of that segment? I’m very afraid of the repercussions once the first interest rate hike hits, or even the weeks before-hand once the rumor mill churns up about the announcement.
I just feel like we are on borrowed time. I hope I am wrong about that.
